Filming in the Warehouse District, Cleveland

Red brick and stone wholesale blocks from the 1850s to the 1880s, and the Beaux Arts corner nearby that The Avengers dressed as Manhattan.

Red brick and cream stone warehouse buildings along St. Clair Avenue, striped awnings and umbrellas over sidewalk tables, cars parked at the curb.

What Warehouse District looks like

is the core of the district, four and five storey brick buildings with cast stone cornices over restaurant awnings and outdoor tables. Painted lettering for L.F. and S. Burgess Grocers still runs across one cornice, and delivery trucks and parked cars line the curb below it. Red and white striped awnings and umbrellas shade a run of sidewalk tables outside a chophouse on St. Clair Avenue.

The 's rusticated brownstone front rises eight storeys with arched window bays over ground floor shops. The , a block over at West 6th and St. Clair, shows pale carved stone arches and a cast iron storefront. Grand Arcade continues the same red brick and stone trim along the next block, its name still carved into the cornice.

The rises seventeen storeys over Superior Avenue, a steel framed tower built in 1903 among the district's shorter warehouses. Narrow streets run in a tight grid down toward the lake, broken here and there by surface parking lots between the brick blocks.

Bridgeview Apartments occupies a tall red brick warehouse building on a sloped street, its window bays unbroken from base to cornice. Ground floors along these blocks now hold offices, apartments and restaurants behind the original storefronts.

Shot in Warehouse District

The Avengers dressed Euclid Avenue and East 9th Street as Manhattan for the film's climactic battle, a few blocks east of these blocks past Public Square. The domed Cleveland Trust Company building doubled for a bank under attack.

What Warehouse District can double for

Tribeca in Manhattan, New York City

The red brick and cut stone fronts here match Tribeca's old warehouse blocks in scale and cornice line, and a Beaux Arts bank building a few blocks east already stood in for Manhattan in The Avengers. Tribeca's cast iron columns at street level are more ornate, and modern glass towers behind these blocks need to stay out of a wide shot. Try searching red brick warehouse blocks now.

Printers Row in Chicago, Illinois

Printers Row shares the same scale of brick warehouses over ground floor storefronts, built in roughly the same decades as these blocks. Chicago's narrower streets and cast iron loading bays give it away in a wide shot, so tighter frames hold the match better. Try searching brick warehouses over storefronts now.

Old City in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Old City's converted warehouses run to a similar five to eight storey height with the same red brick and stone trim seen along West 6th Street. Old City's colonial era side streets and cobblestone alleys are narrower and would need to stay out of frame. Try searching red brick and stone trim now.
