A hillside canal town of brick mills and rowhouses, and the corner where Hustle trained on Green Lane.
What Manayunk looks like
runs along the base of the hill, storefronts and restaurants behind brick and painted stucco fronts under three and four storey flats. Traffic signals hang from wires strung corner to corner, and the sidewalks carry string lights between the buildings after dark.
A block downhill, the runs behind the mills on a wooden towpath, with a rail line alongside and a pipe bridge crossing overhead. Red brick mill buildings with arched window bays line one bank, and newer apartment blocks face them from the other.
The streets above Main Street climb steeply past toward Roxborough, two and three storey rowhouses packed close along narrow sidewalks. stone tower rises at a sloped corner partway up, one of several parish churches that break the roofline along the hill. Cobblestone still surfaces a few blocks between the asphalt patches.
The carries a converted rail line on a concrete arch high over the river, the deck fenced and paved for walkers and cyclists between the hillside and the far bank. From the bridge, Main Street's rooftops and the rowhouse streets behind them run the length of the valley below.
Shot in Manayunk
For Hustle, Bo's training montage runs up Green Lane at Cresson Street and returns to the Manayunk Bridge trail more than once during the sequence. Stan sets Bo the task of beating a cyclist's time up the hill before the montage moves on.
Hustle
Green Lane and the Manayunk Bridge trail. Both are real running routes Bo trains on, not built sets.
Hustle, 2022
Stan sets Bo the task of running up this stretch of Green Lane from Cresson Street in under a minute forty five, faster than a professional cyclist manages the same climb. Bo beats the mark and celebrates at the top with his own shadow boxing routine. Street View

The Manayunk Bridge Trail
The Manayunk Bridge trail is one of several spots Bo returns to during his training montage, running the converted rail deck above the river. The Schuylkill River Trail below gets the same repeat treatment earlier in the sequence. Street View
What Manayunk can double for
South Side Slopes in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Steep streets climb away from the flat brick commercial strip along East Carson Street, the same shape as Main Street below Manayunk's hill. Public staircase streets cut straight up several of the steepest blocks between the houses. Most of the Slopes' own houses are wood frame rather than brick, so keep a brick block in frame to hold the match. Try searching public staircase streets now.
Harmony Mills in Cohoes, New York
Harmony Mills' five storey brick mill buildings sit below a hill lined with brick worker tenements, the same canal side pairing as Manayunk's mills and rowhouses. The Erie Canal runs along the same bank the mills back onto. Harmony Mills is larger and more monumental than any single Manayunk mill, so a tighter frame on one building keeps the scale honest. Try searching brick worker tenements now.
Boott Cotton Mills in Lowell, Massachusetts
A brick mill canal towpath runs behind Boott Cotton Mills, the same water powered arrangement Manayunk's mills use along the Schuylkill Canal. The arched window bays and loading doors along the water match Manayunk's own mill fronts closely. Lowell's canal district sits flat rather than on a hillside, so keep the hill out of frame or the match breaks. Try searching brick mill canal towpath now.
